Dalia Ghanem

Dr Dalia Ghanem joined the EUISS in May 2022. She is responsible for analysis and research on the Middle East and North Africa region. Her research interests focus on EU-MENA relations.

Before joining the EUISS, Dr Ghanem was a senior resident scholar at the Carnegie Middle East Center in Beirut, where her research focused on Algeria’s political, economic, social and security developments. Her research also examined political violence, radicalisation, civil-military relationships, transborder dynamics and gender.

Dr Ghanem has been a guest speaker on these issues at various conferences and a regular commentator in different Arab and international print and audio-visual media.

Before joining Carnegie in 2013, she was a teaching associate at Williams College in Massachusetts and she also served as a research assistant at the Center for Political Analysis and Regulation at the University of Versailles. Dr Ghanem holds a PhD from the University of Versailles-Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.
