In partnership with the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, the EUISS presented the abridged German version of its Yearbook of European of European Security 2014 on 6 November in the Austrian capital.
The Arab Foresight Group was an initiative undertaken by the EU Institute for Security Studies to bring together experts on the Arab World from Europe and the southern neighbourhood to discuss the most pressing issues in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region over the next the ten years.
The EUISS was represented once again at the annual EU Open Day Brussels in order to offer European citizens a chance to learn more about the work and team of the Institute.
From 12 to 16 May 2014, the EUISS co-ran, in cooperation with the Cypriot Ministry of Defence, the fourth module of the 9th CSDP High Level Course 2013/2014 of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC).
The first meeting of the CSCAP EU full committee was held on 19 March in Brussels and was attended by nearly forty committee members: experts from various European think tanks, as well as officials from the European External Action Service (EEAS) in a private capacitiy.
On 28 January 2014, the EUISS organised and hosted the Strategy Meeting of the Contact Group on Piracy off the Coast of Somalia (CGPCS) as part of its overall support to the EU Chairmanship of the CGPCS in 2014.
A delegation from the EUISS traveled to the German capital in order to promote the shortened German version of the EUISS Yearbook for European Security (YES) and attend the Berlin Security Conference.
On Friday 25 January, the EUISS was pleased to welcome Ms Helga Schmid, Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs in the European External Action Service (EEAS) at the Institute for an informal exchange of views with Paris-based think tankers.
