Peacebuilding and the security-development nexus

The first preparatory seminar of the 2010 Annual Conference entitled 'Peacebuilding and the security-development nexus' took place in New York on 26 April and was organised in cooperation with the EU Delegation to the United Nations and with the cooperation of the Finnish Permanent Representation to the United Nations. Lively discussions shed the spotlight on a number of areas, most notably on how to support peacebuilding in the field. Developing mediation capacities at the local level in conflict-prone and fragile countries was seen as paramount in the peacebuilding sector.
