Building on vision, forward to action: Delivering on EU security and defence

On 13 December 2017, the EUISS and the European External Action Service (EEAS) held a joint conference on EU security and defence.

The panel discussion featured Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, and Javier Solana, the first High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy. The discussion also featured Joschka Fischer, former Foreign Minister and Vice Chancellor of Germany. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the recent achievements of European defence and the way ahead.

EUISS Senior Analyst, Florence Gaub, introduced the discussion and the Secretary General of the EEAS, Helga Maria Schmid, delivered the closing remarks.
