As many countries invest heavily in offshore wind farms, Sweden’s energy transition faces a major challenge in the Baltic Sea, where increasing competition between the power and defence sectors is making it difficult to balance security and renewable energy ambitions.

"The Baltic Sea is a major artery with significant wind power potential, crucial for Europe's long-term energy security: without access to fuel and electricity, a robust defence of Europe cannot be guaranteed," said Caspar Hobhouse to Göteborgs-Posten (in Swedish).
