Speaking to Euronews, Caspar Hobhouse noted that, in theory, the US–Iran ceasefire should support European growth prospects, allowing prices to return to pre-February levels. However, he cautioned that the outlook in practice is far less certain, depending on the nature of the ceasefire, whether it evolves into a lasting peace, and how effectively Europe prepares to mitigate future oil and gas supply shocks. He added that gas prices are likely to remain elevated for longer, due to damage to LNG facilities in Qatar and the UAE.
