"These price hikes illustrate that gas continues to be a challenge to the security and competitiveness of the EU. We remain reliant on others to provide our energy as long as we continue to import fossil fuels. It also leaves us vulnerable to coercion in the future," says Caspar Hobhouse to Euronews in an article discussing the increase of gas prices for the first time since 2022. 

Caspar argues that widespread electrification powered by local generation remains the easiest and safest way to ensure energy security and cheap energy supply.
