EU-UN partnerships in crisis management and peace operations: best practices and next steps – Seminar 3

03 December 2014

On 3 December 2014, the EUISS and the Center for International Peace Operations (ZIF) co-hosted in Brussels the third and last high-level seminar on EU-UN cooperation in crisis management. In a similar manner to the previous events, this seminar brought together EU and UN senior officials, representatives from EU member states and relevant think tanks. After a first meeting in Rome and a second in Berlin, this event featured Hervé Ladsous, Under Secretary-General of the United Nations, Head of the UN Department for Peacekeeping Operations, and Maciej Popowski, Deputy Secretary-General of the EEAS, as well as senior representatives of Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, and France. This event concluded the series of activities initiated under the Italian presidency of the EU on EU-UN cooperation. A related Policy Brief on EU-UN cooperation in mission planning – written by Thierry Tardy, Senior Analyst at the EUISS, and Richard Gowan, Associate Director at the Center on International Cooperation – can be downloaded below.
