Central Asia – Exploring EU interests and options
On 19 January 2015 the European Union Institute for Security Studies organised a brainstorming workshop on Central Asia in cooperation with the Institut für Europäische Politik which took place in the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin. A wide range of experts discussed the current status and future prospects for the EU´s Central Asia strategy and its expected review. Participants discussed the context in which EU strategic interests and priorities are formulated (from the point of view of member states, EU institutions, and their responses to a changing geo-political environment); bilateral and regional interests and relationships with and between the five Central Asian republics; and aims to formulate preliminary recommendations.
