Critical raw materials are the foundation of our manufacturing industry, remarked Joris Teer in El País in an article discussing the risks of rare-earth overdependence on China (in Spanish). 

"Without them, there are no satellites, radar systems, communication networks, computer chips, tanks, batteries, artillery ammunition, grenades, fighter jets, drones, frigates, submarines, MRI scanners, or AI chips," he pointed out.
