Is Türkiye's Eurofighter acquisition a step towards closer defence ties with Europe?
"This breakthrough – the result of changes in the strategic scenario, the German government, and US posture – could represent a step-change in operational cooperation between Türkiye and Europe. However, long-term challenges will not simply fade away," writes Giuseppe Spatafora in Anadolu.
Giuseppe explained that the worsening security environment is urging European and Turkish leaders to take a more pragmatic approach. This Eurofighter deal could be part of this trend, but whether this will result in more structured cooperation in the future remains uncertain.
