Giuseppe Spatafora spoke with Spanish media RTVE ahead of the Hague NATO summit. Among doubts about US commitments to European's security and calls for Europe to take more responsibility for its defence, Giuseppe noted that "we should have started strengthening our position because of Russia and other threats, not just the United States".
He underlined the need to reform NATO to minimise the impact of a potential US withdrawal.
