When asked how to describe the first year of Trump's second term in one word, Giuseppe Spatafora told Slawa TV it was "America First". At the same time, he added, Trump's focus on foreign rather than domestic policy was somewhat unexpected.
He warned that the US operation in Venezuela could push Trump to believe that "the US military is capable of intervening anywhere in the world with impunity, which threatens global destabilisation."
Giuseppe argued that for Europe, the most significant risk continues to be a possible rapprochement between the United States and Russia. Such a development could result in a fragile and unprofitable ceasefire in Ukraine, along with shifts in US defence policy. (in Polish)
