Discussing the AI rapprochement between Serbia and China, Clotilde Bômont and Bojana Zorić pointed out in Radio Slobodna Evropa that while the cooperation does not in itself violate Serbia's obligations under the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy, it raises new questions about Belgrade's strategic orientation, particularly as "Serbia's alignment with common policies is already incomplete and far from satisfactory."

"Combining AI with sensitive data, surveillance infrastructure, and dependence on external vendors increases cybersecurity and espionage risks and makes vulnerabilities systemic," they added. "Dependence arises when the same technological ecosystem gradually provides infrastructure, hardware, cloud or computing capacity, software, AI models, and technical expertise. When these layers are interconnected, the transition becomes expensive and politically difficult," they explained. (in Bosnian)
