"I don't see a future for Serbia in the EU in the near term," Bojana Zorić told Die Presse (in German) and La Matinale Européenne (in French), discussing the deteriorating relations between the country and the EU. "No progress has been made since 2021. On the contrary: the government has eroded everything it could."

Two incidents demonstrate how much the relationship between the two sides has deteriorated: the stalemate over negotiations on Cluster 3, which covers competitiveness and inclusive growth, due to a lack of unanimity in the Council; and President Aleksandar Vučić being the only head of state or government to boycott the EU's Western Balkans Conference in Brussels last December.

Bojana argues that rising geopolitical tensions are undermining Vučić’s ambivalent foreign policy. "Everything is now seen through a geopolitical lens. And in Serbia's case, for good reason. The EU is now saying: Stop. You are either on our side or against us."
