In a Challenges article discussing how China and Russia are reacting to the US intervention in Venezuela, Alice Ekman explained that, "even before considering the international consequences of the American coup, Chinese leaders are thinking about the domestic risks." 

She added that recent events could lead [Moscow and Beijing] to strengthen their coordination to oppose any regime change, whether on their own territory or that of partner countries. "This relationship, which is also economic, strategic and ideological, is becoming increasingly structuring," she explained. (in French)
