In a new op-ed for The Diplomat, Tim Rühlig argues that Europe still has leverage over China and must use it before it slips away.
"China needs Europe more than is often assumed by European policymakers. Access to the European Single Market remains essential for Beijing, especially as the US market becomes more restrictive."
Although China and the EU will remain interdependent, "Europe should pursue a more interest-driven and leverage-based strategy," wrote Tim, outlining four steps the EU should take towards a more pragmatic approach to China.
