Steven Everts quoted in El País at the Munich Security Conference

Our Director Steven Everts spoke to El País about "Europe's psychology of weakness" while attending this year's Munich Security Conference.

"The results of the past year point to the need for Europe to invest in its own strength, both materially and psychologically," he remarked.

Last year was marked by a very unbalanced trade agreement for Europe, as well as a number of compromises, even in the negotiations on Ukraine, raising questions about the effectiveness of the EU's approach. By contrast, Europe's firm response on Greenland demonstrated that if Europeans are united and back their diplomatic objectives with resources, they can achieve what they set out to do, argued Steven.
