Steven Everts quoted in Het Financieele Dagblad & Corriere della Sera on the war in Iran

"Europe should not only call for de-escalation [with Iran], but also take action," said our Director Steven Everts to Het Financieele Dagblad (in Dutch). Instead of arguing amongst themselves about the legality of US-Israel actions, European countries should instead focus on what unites them: trade. 

Also speaking to Corriere della Sera (in Italian), Steven argued that a diplomatic initiative is needed not only with the Gulf States but also with Asian countries, which are highly exposed to the consequences of a possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz. "It is not only a European or regional problem: it is a huge problem for India, Japan, and China. Therefore we must create an alliance with these countries to find a way out of the escalation," he added.
