"EU accession will take years to complete. Ukraine will need security guarantees sooner"

Ondrej Ditrych was interviewed by the New Union Post in an article on whether EU accession is a security guarantee for Ukraine. 

"On paper, it is a very strong guarantee because of the common defence clause enshrined in the EU Treaties," said Ondrej.

He warned, however, that the the real risk is that this guarantee remains purely theoretical, since the EU has neither sufficient independent defence and deterrence capacity nor contingency plans in place that would make this collective defence particularly strong against the threat of Russian aggression.
