The EUISS is an agency of the European Union
Bojana Zorić spoke with Berria about the ongoing political crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina, highlighting the growing tensions and the role of both domestic and international actors. The remarks come amid renewed international concern over secessionist rhetoric and governance gridlock, as EU and NATO officials closely monitor developments in the region.
Bojana emphasized that Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik is increasingly isolated in the international arena. "The international community is condemning Dodik's movements," although she warned that he still enjoys external backing from Moscow. "Russia wants to promote anti-European Union and anti-Western discourse in the region, and currently Milorad Dodik is its most loyal ally."
The analyst also reflected on the Dayton Peace Agreement, underscoring its limited long-term effectiveness. "The Dayton Agreement was reached to end the conflict, not to create a stable country." Discussing the controversy surrounding the Office of the High Representative (OHR), Bojana noted that Dodik and his allies have long pushed for its closure. Many within Dodik's camp believe that "the West controls the OHR," and therefore see it as "not doing any favours for the Bosnian Serbs."
