In partnership with the Hungarian Presidency of the Council, the workshop brought together experts and practitioners to discuss how to improve cooperation between humanitarian, development and peacebuilding efforts.

The event built on recent EU and international discussions, highlighting the importance of the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus (HDP) in tackling fragility and building resilience. Participants shared ideas and strategies to better align these efforts for more effective and sustainable outcomes.

The Sahel region was a key focus of the discussions, showcasing how the Nexus approach can address complex challenges in one of the world’s most fragile areas. Participants also explored how to integrate climate resilience and address displacement within Nexus strategies, ensuring a balanced response that meets immediate needs while supporting long-term development and peacebuilding.

Rossella MARANGIO, Senior Analyst at EUISS and Lukas GEHRKE, Director, IOM Global Office in Brussels moderated the discussion.
