On 15 March 2021, the EUISS and Le Grand Continent jointly organised the first in a series of four launch events of the Chaillot Paper “African Futures 2030: free trade, peace and prosperity”. The discussion was moderated by Alice Fill (Le Grand Continent) and looked at how the African Continental Free Trade Area can make the African continent more integrated, resilient and prosperous, particularly by addressing policy challenges related to governance, energy and education.

Speakers included Giovanni Faleg (EUISS), Bernardo Venturi (Istituto Affari Internazionali), Fabrizio Tassinari (European University Institute – School of Transnational Governance) and Nicolo Sartori (ENEL Foundation), who contributed to the Chaillot Paper; as well as Maria Stella Rognoni (Università degli Studi di Firenze) as external discussant. Stefania Giannini, UNESCO Assistant-Director General for Education, provided keynote remarks.
