Research Assistant (specialist area: India/Central Asia)

The Institute for Security Studies of the European Union, set up in 2002, is one of the newest agencies of the European Union. Its aim is to contribute to the creation of a common European security culture and to enhance the strategic debate by providing a forum for European decision-makers. Its headquarters are in Paris.

The Institute is now recruiting a Research Assistant on India and Central Asia for an initial 6-month contract (renewable).

Requirements for this post: 

Masters degree minimum and initial research experience on international relations, particularly on the international security system (UN, NATO, contribution of the EU) in its broad understanding. Expertise on India and Central Asia, including relevant regional organisations.

Additional requirements:

A minimum of 1 year professional experience in a similar post.
Excellent knowledge of  Office IT systems.
Excellent command (both oral and written) of the English language.
A knowledge of other EU languages is desirable.
Sense of initiative.
Good communication and writing skills.

Short-listed candidates will be required to attend an interview in Paris during the first half of February. The selected candidate will be expected to take up his/her position as soon as possible.
