Presentation of ISS Report nº 5

European Security Strategy 2003-2008 Building on common interests

The EUISS held a lunch debate in Brussels on 9 March to discuss its new report on the European Security Strategy, based on a series of seminars held in 2008. EUISS Director Alvaro de Vasconcelos presented the report's main findings. Helga Schmid, Director of the Policy Unit of the Council of the EU, who wrote the foreword to the report, and Eneko Landaburu, Director-General for External Relations of the European Commission also spoke at the event.  
The launch was attended by EU policymakers, representatives of EU Member States, researchers and journalists.

The report was also presented at the School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University during a discussion on 'New Security Strategies for NATO and the EU: Compatible or Competitive?' in Washington DC, 27 March 2009.
