Giovanni Faleg at the “Foresight in the European Union” conference
On 7 October, Giovanni Faleg participated in the international conference 'Foresight in the European Union', organised by the European General Studies programme and the Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies at the College of Europe, Bruges campus.
In his presentation, Dr Faleg assessed the role of strategic foresight and geopolitical analysis in shaping EU external action priorities, with a focus on the green and digital transformations in Africa. He discussed, in particular, how competing visions of digitalisation processes between global actors may impact Africa-Europe relations, and the prospects for the green growth model in relation to geopolitical shocks and food insecurity, based on research findings from the African Futures 2030 and the African Spaces Chaillot Papers.
The keynote address was delivered by the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen. Commissioner Urpilainen spoke on the topic of EU Relations with Africa and focused specifically on the Global Gateway.
