Expert seminar on SSR

18 March 2016

On 18 March 2016, the EUISS coorganised a closed seminar in Brussels with the European External Action Service (EEAS) and the European Commission. The aim of the event was to reflect on the forthcoming EU-wide Strategic Framework for Security Sector Reform (SSR), which is to be released by mid-2016. The event brought together 30 participants from the EU institutions and think tank community. The seminar consisted of four panels each assessing the SSR from a different perspective and included: the state vs human security dichotomy, the centrality of good governance to SSR, unintended consequences of SSR processes and lessons which can be learnt from implementing SSR.
