EU-Japan strategic dialogue

On 26 January, the EUISS and the Genron NPO, the EU-Japan Strategic Dialogue organised a meeting which brought together experts from both sides to discuss the recent evolution of their respective security frameworks.

In particular, participants exchanged views over the implications of Japan's new National Security Strategy (NSS) and the EU's Strategic Compass. They also shared their assessment of the latest developments in Ukraine as well as in East Asia and explored possible areas of further cooperation.

This track II dialogue represents an opportunity to share analysis on security issues in both Europe and the Indo-pacific, in a tense and rapidly changing strategic environment, and to identify areas of policy convergence between Japan and the EU.
