Job description

The Documentation and Research Officer will work directly under the supervision of the EUISS Director and be tasked with the following duties:

  • Reorganise and modernise the EUISS documentation services, with particular emphasis on online products and databases
  • Coordinate the EUISS research support services, including the work of junior analysts and interns
  • Plan and implement over time the preparation of the EUISS Yearbook, including documents, facts and figures, mapping and EUISS-related information
  • Draw up, in consultation with the team of analysts and assistants, the Annual Report of EUISS Activities
  • Collaborate with the senior analysts in all matters related to publications (tables, annexes etc.)
  • In close collaboration with the Public Information Officer, help prepare reports, briefings, background materials and talking points
  • In close collaboration with the Public Information Officer, provide support in all organisational aspects of meetings and public events
  • Perform other related duties as required.


Candidates should possess:

  •  EU citizenship
  • A university degree (Master’s level) in a relevant area 
  • Managerial experience
  • A sound knowledge of the workings of the European Union, in particular CFSP and external action
  • An excellent (near native) command of both English and French - knowledge of other official languages of the EU an advantage
  • A good knowledge of relevant online documentation databases
  • The knowledge and ability to develop a database for electronic documentation
  • A highly-developed sense of initiative and responsibility, coupled with dynamism, organisational skills, logic and flexibility
  • An ability to work well and fast in a relatively small international team.

The successful candidate will be offered a fixed-term three year contract, with the possibility of extension. S/he will be expected to start as from 1 September 2013.
