On 25 September 2019, Daniel Fiott was invited by the European Parliament’s Security and Defence sub-Committee to present findings from a study he produced entitled ‘The Scrutiny of the European Defence Fund by the European Parliament and National Parliaments’. With Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) in attendance, Daniel outlined how national parliaments had so far scrutinised the Defence Fund and the ways in which the European Parliament can enhance its oversight methods and capacity. Daniel fielded questions from several MEPs on the future direction of EU security and defence.

Daniel’s presentation was preceded by an exchange of views with the Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency, Jorge Domecq, and followed by an exchange of views with the European Commissioner for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, Elzbieta Bienkowska.
