On 20-21 June, the EUISS together with the European University Institute (EUI) held the first edition of the Countering Foreign Interference (CFI) Dialogues, one of the flagship events of the CFI project.

Held on an annual basis, the event aims to directly contribute to building an EU CFI Network, as part of the implementation of the project. By facilitating the engagement with researchers, experts and representatives from EU institutions, EU Member States, International Organisations and think-thanks, the CFI Dialogues will then support the establishment of a Community of Practice, bringing the EU, Member States and partners closer together on the understanding of FIMI-related challenges and how to address them.

The CFI Dialogues 2023 allowed for fruitful exchanges to build stronger partnerships and tools to counter foreign interferences. Perspectives from EU partners (across regions and organisations) on countering foreign interference were highlighted throughout the two-day hybrid event, as well as EU approaches and tools used or to be developed to contribute to a stable and secure environment. This two-day event enhanced understanding of how FIMI is addressed by the EU and partners, being linked to wider security issues. Furthermore, it triggered discussions on what may need to be done further to effectively counter foreign interference in a more targeted, tailored, cooperative, and coordinated manner.
