EUISS annual conference 2013

23 May 2013

The 2013 Annual Conference of the EU Institute for Security Studies, entitled ‘European Security. Taking stock and moving forth’, took place in Paris on 23 and 24 May. On this occasion, the Institute's Director, Antonio Missiroli, had the pleasure of welcoming HR/VP Catherine Ashton who made a keynote address. This was followed by four sessions before an audience of policy planners and think tankers which were animated, inter alia, by Marta Dassù, the Italian Deputy Foreign Minister, Claude-France Arnould, Director of the EDA, and Maciej Popowski, Deputy Secretary-General of the EEAS. Discussions on European military capabilities, problems of the extended neighbourhood as well as the future of EU foreign policy provided material for an intense and probing debate.

This conference also provided an opportunity to present the new EUISS Yearbook of European Security and to bring together all the former directors and many former research fellows with the new team of the Institute.
