Daniel Fiott served as a panel speaker at an EU Military Staff 'Concept Development and Experimentation Seminar' focusing on climate change and defence.

A number of high-level officials from EU member states, EU institutions, the UN and NATO joined. Daniel spoke about the need to mainstream climate change into all capability, operational and industrial elements of EU security and defence. Among other things, he focused in particular on the geopolitical effects of climate change, emerging technologies and on the duty of care for civil and military personnel. He was joined on the panel by senior military representatives from the EU Military staff, General (Ret) Tom Middendorp, former Chief of Defence of the Netherlands and Chair of the International Military Council on Climate and Security, and Dr Benjamin Pohl from Adelphi.
