CSDP and Turkey

Taking place at the EUISS in Paris on 18 June 2010, this seminar included opening remarks by EUISS Director, Alvaro de Vasconcelos, and Atila Eralp, Director of the Centre for European Studies of the Middle East Technical University in Ankara. The first session, chaired by Tacan Ildem, Ambassador of the Director General for International Security Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara, focused on lessons learned of Turkey's role in CSDP operations. The second session: 'Perspectives on NATO's new strategic concept' included remarks by Thanos Dokos, Director of the Hellenic Foundation for European & Foreign Policy in Athens. The final session saw a discussion on new modalities of cooperation for Turkey and CSDP with Claude-France Arnauld, Deputy Director General of the Crisis Management and Planning Directorate of the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU, providing insights into the discussion.
