Beyond China-EU relations

27 October 2010

The seminar's opening remarks were provided by the CICIR Vice President, Tao Jian, and EUISS Director, Álvaro de Vasconcelos. The first session, chaired by EUISS researcher, Nicola Cassarini, explored the economic crisis and global governance, and in particular, the future of the G20. The second session looked at the ways of dealing with some of themost serious regional crises facing both actors in the world today -- notably, Afghanistan and Iran. The session was chaired by Arnaud D’Andurain of the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, and included Li Rong, of the CICR Institute of Asian and African Studies in Beijing. The final panel, chaired by EUISS researcher, Sabine Fischer, discussed ways of finding a common approach for Africa with Daniel Large, Director of Research at SOAS in London providing input to the discussion.
