Leonardo De Agostini

Leonardo De Agostini is a Project Officer at the European Union Institute for Security Studies, working on the EU-funded project Countering Foreign Interference. His research focuses on strengthening the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy against information threats, with a particular emphasis on CSDP missions and the impacts of FIMI on conflicts.

He holds a Master’s degree in International Relations Theory from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Università Cattolica in Milan, where he also attended the ASERI graduate school. His Master’s thesis, The EEAS at 10 and the Headquarters-Delegation Nexus, was awarded the Fred Halliday Dissertation Prize and published among the Distinguished Dissertations on European foreign policy by the LSE.

Prior to joining the EUISS, Leonardo gained experience at the International Crisis Group, the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) and the European Foreign Policy Unit (EFPU) at the LSE. He recently contributed to the G7’s Think 7 Task Force on Peace, Security, and Global Governance with a policy brief addressing AI-generated disinformation.
