The EUISS together with the GMF and Stiftung Neue Verantwortung, and in cooperation with the Austrian Presidency of the Council and the EEAS organised an expert meeting on the application of existing international law in cyberspace.
On 13 June 2018, the EUISS, the Direction générale des relations internationales et de la stratégie (DGRIS) and the Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the EU organised a seminar focusing on EU security and defence.
On 22 and 23 February 2018, the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), the EU Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) and the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union co-organised the ESDC Alumni Seminar 2018 in Brussels.
On 16 June, with the support of the Permanent Representation of Belgium to the EU, the EUISS organised a seminar to analyse a series of issues in relation to the planning, conduct, and handover of EUPOL Afghanistan.
The seminar discussed a more tailored approach to Security Sector Reform (SSR) in the EU’s South, looking at challenges in the fields of criminal justice, policing, border control, and counter-terrorism.
On 31 March 2017, the EUISS held a closed event in Brussels on the ‘Integrated Approach’. This Seminar aimed at analysing the Integrated Approach and the opportunities it creates for a more effective EU external action, in particular in conflict prevention and stabilisation.
On 8 March, the EUISS and DG NEAR jointly organised a Seminar on building resilience in the EU’s surrounding regions. The Seminar brought together experts from Europe’s Eastern and Southern neighbourhoods, as well as European institutions to explore the challenges and opportunities in building resilience in the EU’s surrounding regions.
On 28 October, the EUISS and the European Policy Centre (EPC) organised a small closed-door session with a view to contribute to the debate regarding a new EU Integrated Border Management (IBM) strategy, the design of which was assigned to Frontex in the agency’s recently expanded mandate.
